For Stephanie aviation runs in her blood. With her grandfather and father both having been airline pilots and her mother a former flight attendant, it was no surprise when she herself entered into the industry. In 2006 she graduated with honors from the Avionics Technology program at SAIT and went on to earn an AME-E license. Five years ago she returned to SAIT to teach in the Avionics program. Prior to returning to SAIT to instruct, Stephanie enjoyed an exciting career as an Avionics Technician. She has worked on multiple different aircraft types, with a vast array of different avionics packages. She has enjoyed the opportunity to work in all different areas of the avionics trade from heavy aircraft overhaul and line maintenance support, to repairing and recertifying components on the bench. Aviation has provided Stephanie with many wonderful experiences and adventures. The most memorable being her time working in Antarctica for the British Antarctic Survey. She spent six months living and working at the Rothera Research Station on Adelaide Island on the Antarctic Peninsula. Here she had the responsibility of providing the only Avionics line maintenance support for the British fleet of four Twin Otters and one Dash-7. Returning to SAIT as an instructor was a dream of Stephanie’s since her time there as a student. When a position opened up in the Aviation programs at SAIT she was thrilled at the opportunity to return to the classroom. Working as an instructor has been an absolute pleasure for Stephanie. She has taken steps towards advancing her education and is in the process of finishing her Instructors Diploma from Vancouver Community College. Stephanie currently lives in Airdrie, Alberta with her husband Dennis who is a fellow aircraft maintenance engineer.
