Capt Kaylee Horn, Pilot (RCAF)
Born in Seattle, Washington, Kaylee immigrated to Canada in 1972. The family settled in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, where she lived until obtaining her B Sc. Mechanical Engineering from the University of Saskatchewan.
She joined the Royal Canadian Air Force in December of 2004 under the Direct Entry Officer program to pursue a dream of flying helicopters. Prior to this she worked for many years in the photonics and agricultural industries as a Mechanical Engineer doing product design, manufacturing and testing.
Upon obtaining her wings in January 2009, she was posted to 443 Maritime Helicopter Squadron in Patricia Bay, British Columbia to fly the venerable Sea King. While there she supported the Royal Canadian Navy through numerous deployments culminating in the position of Detachment Commander on HMCS Algonquin.
In June of 2012, she was posted to 3CFFTS in Portage la Prairie, Manitoba to instruct pre-wings helicopter students on the B412-CF helicopter, which is a position she holds to this day. Kaylee is also a Rotary Wing Flight Safety Officer.
Kaylee looks forward to a return to operational flying upon completing her current posting at 3 CFFTS.
